Coach Focus for Game
1. Playing in the correct zones for each position
2. Looking up and trying to play forward passes, moving the ball quickly
3. Pressuring the opposition straight away when we lose the ball
Despite not training for almost a week, the boys looked sharp and ready to play at a high intensity from the get go, which was particularly pleasing when considering our problem in previous weeks had been a tendency to start slowly. The turf field allowed us to play quick passes and the boys moved the ball really well as a team, looking up to find their teammates in space and making attacking runs in order to provide the options for these passes. The quality of our attacking play was also backed up by some very resolute defending, with the Stamford team given very little time on the ball. When they did have the ball, the New Canaan boys put in a much more commanding and confident defensive performance, making sure that they pressured the opposition and put in some really good, well timed challenges. The shooting opportunities we created by moving the ball quickly were great, with the quality of finishing at an especially high standard. The boys were finding the corner of the net and also managed to get great power behind their shots.

Aiden made a wide variety of contributions, playing as a defender and a midfielder for different periods of the game. In defence, he was solid in the tackle and tried to play out with some intelligent forward passes into the right areas of the field. He also managed to get forwards and score a great goal when playing in midfield, capping a well rounded performance.
